Bob Hayden and the C&DR

The Carrabasset & Dead River was one of my favorite model railroad and articles about it appeared fairly regularly when he worked for Kalmbach. However we haven’t heard much since he moved to NM. I did hear he was working on a new C&DR in On30, which given what he created in HO, would be a visual delight. Does anyone know if he’s still working and if anything will be published on it?

Likewise, we see an occasional indication of Lou Sassi’s move to On30 like in the Oct MR. Given what we’ve seen so far, would love to see more of his new layout.

Here is a link to a PDF-scan of the 1998 CD&R article.

Bob’s still active, his email is listed on his website. He was on the Scotty Mason show a couple of years ago and mentioned having a building brought in for his new railroad. Shoot him an email!

Sounds like a excellent update article for MR…[tup]

The CD&R ranked #4 on my list of favorite layouts featured in MR.

At the time of it’s being current, the CD&R was my favorite layout. It was the base that David Frary used to demonstrate some of his scenery building techniques (at least in the first edition of his book).
