Bodymounting Couplers on 44 Tonner

Picked up a pair of USA Trains 44 Tonners and want to install plows on them. The only problem is that the plows interfere with the coupler swing. (I am mounting full pilot plows per prototype on the A&A). I am converting the engine to Kadee #1831 couplers, and thought that I might just body-mount them. It would certainly increase the minimum radius required, but that doesn’t matter because the engines will be pulling Aristocraft heavyweight coaches and that will require wide radius curves.

Has anyone done this before? What type of material is the body shell made out of, and can I use plastic cement or should I use superglue?

I would suggest Plastic weld or similar - that works on most materials . To be certain it might be best to use a mechanical fixing of some sort . Superglue seems to fail on high stress locations between disimilar plastics - personal experience only but I would suggest avoiding it in this instance.

Just out of curiousity, for this application, which would be stronger: Testors weld or similar plastic cement, super glue (ACC), or epoxy?

I use PC 7 Heavy Duty waterproof multi-purpose epoxy paste, 2 part mix. But note it can melt some thin plastics because of the chemicals and the heat it gives off. Being it couplers you might get way with screws but I can not see what I need to.
