Looking for books that will take you on/in the ends and outs of different engines from 1800 to today because I still don’t have “all” the parts in my grey matter.
Oh yes, does any one have a copy of a Bachman 4-6-0 full diagrams 90-0100-27?
I don’t know if Kalmbach still carries it–I couldn’t find it or any listing for “books” on the website, but a fair number of years ago, I got a book called “Modern American Locomotive - Construction and Operation” from them. It’s written by Frederick Prior, and was published by Rail Heritage Publications in Nebraska. (Rene–send a subtle hint to the trains.com folks: a single banner link to all the books Kalmbach sells would be nice.) Anyway, it’s a great reference for how a steam loco works, and what all the parts do. Fascinating reading.

I have it and it covers just about everything you ever wanted to know and quite about what you never know existed, about steam locomotives up to around 1900.

Have one here titled “Field Guide to Modern Diesel Locomotives” Greg McDonnell. Available from Kalmbach…ISBN# is 0-89024-607-6. Great reading…I had no idea there were so many different diesels running the rails these days. Has over 110 different locos in it. Whew! Later eh…Brian. [:D]

We should al collaborate and write a publicantion of our own. We could all present a chapter on some strength of ours and edited it to the benefit of the hobby! We sould call it “The Great Scale Guide.”

Took to shopping and did not like it! Bad thing is you really don’t know if the book is going to have any meat in it ie: where the sand comes from on a diesel, that shows you.
And some correct turms (american), engine features, just real meat book.
Back to the hot seat guys and gals! Ain’t no fun here!
Be warned if you do not read the Koran you will all end up in Iraq, as well I will blow all your trains up.
