Yes, I know it’s July 1st, but that’s exactly the point. When I had trouble finding exactly what I wanted last November for a new Christmas O gauge layout, I promised the Missus that we’d get the jump on things this year. Consider me jumping!
I have just about everything covered, but thought it would be nice to have a “How To” or “Ideas” book on Christmas layouts. I have not been able to find anything, yet. All my searching has to be over the Internet due to medical problems and Google has let me down so far.
Does anyone know of a book or books on this topic? I am interested in materials others have used or have suggested to be used for snow, floor covering for a carpet layout, instructions on how to built a raised platform for the layout, etc. I’ll start small (4X8) this year and add additional modules in successive years.
I don’t know of any books on just Christmas layouts, but this is mine from last year. Maybe others can post a picture of there holiday display and you can get some ideas.
i think a few months back CTT featured a christmas layout as well… i dont have my magazines handy right now, but im sure others could name the issue that it appeared in… i know the layout featured an ice skating rink, snow overed rooftops and city scapes, as well as several other winter scenes… ill check back tomorrow to see if anyone can direct you to an issue, otherwise i will see what i have and let you know…
It isn’t a book but a great site with all kinds of layouts that can be used as is or modified to one’s desires. He has everything from the very basic to fairly complex, so give a look at this one and see if it is helpful. Not to mention that there are a great bunch of folks here that are an excellent source of info, even the ones from Ohio. [swg]

Thanks guys. I had stored a bunch of photos from this forum posted last year and lost them to a computer problem. Usually, no one starts posting photos until Christmas time (understandable), but as I explained, I want to start planning now so I’ll be all set come December.
I read Thor’s web site from time to time and it has been a big help. Just wanted to see what others have done.
I vaguely remember the CTT issue on Christmas layouts and will have to check the CTT index to find it.
Again, thanks for the suggestions. I’m sure as we approach THE season, more information will filter out.
