Bought my first car today.

Seeing how my lay out will be including a lot of John Deere items, I broke down and bought my first car. It was the last one that my hobby shop had and they have been Discontinued.

I am looking for more of these cars. If you know of a hobby shop that has some please let me know. I have some money set a side just for some more of these cars.

Thanks
Baker

Congratulations, James! Now you just need to sink lots more $$$ into the hobby

You are on your way! Wait…I’m new here…do you have other stuff?

All I have bought is…
Wood,
Screws,
Wood,
Clamps,
Wood,
Some Foam,
Hot wire,
Alot of Cork,
Just about all of my Atlas 36" Flex Track,
All of my Switches,
All of my Switch machines,
and my 1 car.

Now I just have to find more of them.

You might want to pick up a loco too!

Just kidding!

Hobbytown USA (or any large chain type store) might be able to help as they can transfer stuff from store to store to meet your needs. They may not have what you’re looking for at the local store, but they can get it from other stores in the chain and transfer it to your stroe if they know they’ve got it sold.

BTW, nice well car. Sounds like you’re off and running with that layout.

I will be posting more pictures to night or tomorrow some time!

Great once you get your first car, you just want to get more. Cant wait too see how you layout turns out

James, I don’t know if you are anywhere near a rural area, but John Deere tractor dealers are a great source of John Deere Commemorative train stuff, including HO farm equipment too, Flat cars w/ JD equip etc.

Let the fun begin. If you are not careful you will end up like Bob G.

The John Deere containers are something I would allow on my layout. Does anyone know if they make the containers without the wagon?

Nice looking well car. Need containers for it?

This car came with the 4 containers. I am just looking for more of them now. They sell for about $27. Athearn has alot more John Deere items that I will be buying with in the next month. My buddy is holding me 11 cars right now, ALL are JD! I want the JD Loco but is is not sound or even dcc. So I am going to see if I can buy just a shell. If not I might have to buy the whole thing and swap out the shells, IF I can!

I have not gotten hardly any work done today on my lay out. so I will post pictures up tomorrow. I should have about 5-6 hours free tomorrow night to work.

That JD loco is an Athearn Blue Box drive, it can be fitted with a sound decoder without too much effort.

Brad

It can be converted without too much trouble. I’ve got a bunch of Athearn locos I’ve been preparing for the switchover.

Greetings James,
Congratulations on your purchase. Thought you might like to see a few things I have collected over the years.

I don’t know what happened to up_santafe, I expected him to respond to this thread. He has a complete railroad based on John Deere. Here is his website.

I live in Maine.
