Bowser Locomotive Tsunami Decoder Install

I just finished building a Bowser Big Boy. I would like to install a tsunami sound decoder. for anyone who has the bowser big boy. could I install a tsunami in it?

What makes you think you can’t install one?

silver pilot Im not thinking that i can’t install one. i just want to know how to do it.

Go to the Soundtraxx website (a Google search will find it), download the instruction for the decoder, read through the instructions. It does a thorough job of explain how to install the decoder. It will do a much better job of explaining the process that anyone here can.

Or, is there something specifically in the instructions you don’t understand?

NO…the FIRST step is to address your locomotive and ask the all important question…WHAT IS THE STALL CURRENT? Without this info you cannot proceed with a decoder installation into a Bowser unit.

Some Bowser locos have a stall current over 2 amps…some as high as 3 with a 1 amp continuous running. Either way, you have to know. After you calculate it, then you can proceed with spending money on a Sound Decoder.

To find out how to calculate stall current, go a google search as it has been covered countless times.

The Soundtraxx manual explains how to determine the stall current.
