Box Car Question?

I a have LBF Co. 50’ FMC DBL Door Boxcar and two 40’ Roundhouse boxcars where the pre drilled holes for the trucks are stripped does anyone know what I could do? Or will I have to buy new underframes?

I would just tap the holes for 2-56 screws then mount the trucks in the normal fashion.No need to buy a new underframe.

Get some plastic or thick walled brass tube with the same diameter as the kingpin hole. Typically its 1/8". Drill out the kingpin hole with a drill the same diameter as the tube. Glue a piece of tube in the hole (epoxy, ACC or plastic cement) and when it dries hard, drill it out and tap it for a 2-56 screw.

Or if you’re lucky, you may have a piece of plastic sprue which will fit the hole diameter. Then all you have to do is glue it in, cut flush, and complete the job as Dave advises.
