What were the braking systems on roadrailers? Were there any?
Matthew
Why do you type “were”? They are still around. They have regular train brakes.

I typed were because it was late and I was tired. LOL
Thanks for the link, I was just wondering where they would keep the train brake lines when I had never seen a hose.
Matthew
Roadrailers used to use the same air lines for brakes whether on the road or rail. It saved tare weight on highway, but it sometimes causes brake problems on the rail. Now I think the rail bogie has two short hoses that connect to a longer hose that hangs under the trailer to go to the next bogie. I can’t be sure of this as they go by too fast to see. [swg]
…One thing I have noticed on the brake hose at the bogie. The hose is threaded out through the side of it and seems to pass very close to the wheel flange…Just seems a bit strange of it’s location. Wish I could get a close pic of the situation one of these times I see it pass through…
I noticed that Wabash no longer lists the ReeferRailer on its website.
Wabash maintains a site separate from NS?
Not that Wabash. See my first post.
