So I am just beginning to model the modern UP and I would like to stick with Atlas for my locos. But they have a limited number of “numbered” diesels. Has anyone noticed any problems with mixing Atlas with Athearn or Kato on consists in DCC? Any issues with coupler heights with cars as well?
Or would it be better to just purchase undecorated Atlas and renumber them myself? I am guessing that would be pretty easy with decal kits and all. But the small number boards look impossibly small to put decals on.

You shouldn’t have any problems with “cnosisting” different brands of DCC l0comotives. Each locomotive can be programed to match any other locomotive’s speed. That’s one of the beauties of DCC. After saying that I’ll have to admit to not having DCC for my layout. I will have but there are some other things that must be taken care of first. I have been buying DCC equiped locomotives lately so I’ll be ready when the time comes.Keep an eye on the forum for more info and you might also check the layout forum. Have fun. AIRBORN!
