Brand new book about Lionel trains by CTT Roger Carp

Hi everyone,

Have any of you seen and read my brand-new book “Lights, Camera, Lionel Trains! A Photo History of an American Icon”?

If so, what do you think of it?

Which are your favorite photographs?

Any suggestions on how to make a second volume even better?

Looking forward to hearing your comments and suggestions.

Thanks, Roger Carp, Senior editor, Classic Toy Trains

Oh wow, welcome to the Forum Roger! And please don’t be a stranger!
And I’ve got the book and it’s a home run!
I like all the photos but I’d have to say my favorite is the one with Betty Grable. There she is, down on the floor and barefoot, not overly glammed up and just playing with her Lionels! Real “All-American girl next door” stuff!
How do you make a second volume even better? Hard to suggest any improvements but I’d try and pick up where this one leaves off, the MPC Era and into the LTI / Dick Kughn Era. Add the celebrity Lionel collectors like Frank Sinatra, Mandy Patinkin, Tom Snyder just to name a few. Putting them between hard covers is a good way to, if not guarantee immortality but assure recognition for at least another century. But you know the craft a lot better than I.
And it was a real pleasure seeing you at York!

Hello Roger! We love the new forums! Hello BJason! Welcome aboard!
