brands of trains

what brand of trains do you like best???

You need more options on your poll.

I like my Aristo best, but my Bachmann Big Hauler Anniversary Edition is close to my heart, and right behind my desk.

I agree with Torby. How can I answer a question like this? This is not a 1-2-3 type of question. My first locomotive is a USA Trains GP38; I love LGB for the Fornies; I have an Aristo U-boat on backorder (God know when THAT will show up); and my first , and still favorite, rolling stock was a Bachmann reefer. I guess my answer is “YES - anything G scale”. [8D]

Nothing beats an Aristo-Craft.

Well looking at my list I would have to say that it is AG Price and Co of NZ comming closely followed by Hagans of Germany!!! Much to my suprise no-where in the collection (as yet) is there Messrs Beyer Peacock or Messrs Kitson(!)

So, my vote in the poll HAS to be: None of the Above!

I like MTH best Aristo next USA next LBGnext Then Bachmann
but this like asking which of your children you like best

Just Ignore the above" I like em all "

I perfer Hartland, followed by the older Delton, Kalamazoo, Aristo and REA. All the older lines are now put out by either Hartland or Aristocraft. Hartlands stuff is USA made and assembled, cant go wrong with that!!

A rather inane query to say the least! So many manufacturers totally ignored in the question. The phraseology would seem to indicate a younger person who is rather newer or relatively unfamiliar with what is actually on the market.

I don’t really object to the question, but since it is so incomplete it becomes unanswerable!

Now, let us educate the pollster to what is available. Ralph got a good start on listing manufacturers not popularly known on this side of the pond, what about the far side of the other pond?

Mebbe the pollister just wanted a tally between those three brands. [:D]

Anyhoo, LGB being that far out in front kinda surprised me. But being new to all this, I get lotsa surprises. [:p]

Carry on.

Hi Capt Bob Johnson
How about we start with.
http://www.ipengineering.co.uk/
Not strictly “G” But I have Amy rail car, Lollypop farm railcar and Lucy a little
industrial diesle all paitiently waiting for me to assemble them.
Not a lot of UK RTR avalable yet though I believe acucraft are working on that
starting with a couple of Lynton and Barnstaple wagons and a diesle loco.
regards John

I would put forward ones the oldest around in the UK which are:

Brandbright www.brandbright.co.uk
Tenmille www.tenmille.co.uk

Both of these see my card numbers on their till receipts!!!

Cant vote cause its missing two of my favorites

Bachmann & HLW

Your poll is in need of a major adjustment, I would like to vote for both LGB and Aristo Craft but I can’t vote to reflect that.
Regards,
Ron

lgb(because of my sv mallet’s superb sound, and running!)
Bachmann spectrum
usa trains
and definately last aristo craft

I like Bachamann, Aristo Craft and Accucraft the best.

Bob Z, I’d say much would depend on what one was trying to model, he lists 2 manufacturers of 1:29 & 1 of 1:Gummi. Nothing said about 1:32, 1:20.5, or any of the other myriad of scales represented on 45mm trackage.

No I’m not trying to restart the old scale/gauge argument again, I’m just replying to a supposition.

That being said, your supposition could be correct; however, to be accurate, shouldn’t he have so stated?

‘Roundhouse’ have a rather good reputation, as do ‘Accucraft’. If I had the money I would go for a live steam ‘Edrig’ or ‘Katie’!

‘IP Engineering’ if you count battery diesels.

SM32 - some of us do things in 1:19 scale.

Yep, but then that just complicates things too much. [:p] Aristo, LGB and USA are the most prolific and thus, readily available, from what I’ve seen. IOW, most have something in their roster from one of the three. I’ll admit, Bachmann probably should have been included, just to round things out. [:)]

FWIW, I only run 1:29. Someday, the rest of the mfgrs. will catch up. [:D]

The world is full of amiguous questions and this is one of them!

Like when are you going to stop beatimg your wife?

Multiple mark is needed. Depending on my mood, I run Aristo or USA FAs or F3s, LGB Mikado with freight consist, Aristo Pacific or LGB Mikado with passenger consist, or NG freight/passenger loads [various = Aristo, Bachmann, NewBright, Classic, Echo].
