Brass Bascule Bridge? Has anyone built one?

Hey guys,

Has anyone built a working bascule bridge from brass and if so would you be willing to post plans and part list?

Sincerely,

Bostonian

I have not done one yet, but it is in the works. I’ve been trying my hand at brass locos in HOn3. The bridge can be interesting just in the amount of small parts that you will have to replicate. My brass work is on hold at the moment while I finish making my rivet machine though. Are you dedicated to build one in brass, or do you just want an operating bascule bridge? I figure for the amount in materials that I could just about buy one of walthers kits when they come up on ebay, but I like making the stuff myself. I’ve already looked into casting brass at home and that should be fine, if I can make some decent moulds that small.

How did the forums managed to stick me into a thread way different than the one I selected!>?

Sorry for the mis post.

Wow…that must have taken that person quite awhile to fabricate.

To answer your question I have a feeling that I’m not going to be able to buy what

I’m exactly looking for…I am modeling Boston’s North Station around 1928-1935 and

there are (4) specific bascule bridges that were used at the time…2 are still operational to this day.

I have old pictures…but I need plans…oh well…I’ll keep looking

There are some bascule bridge plans in Kalmbach’s “Model Railroad Bridges and Trestles”, but I don’t know whether these would meet your requirements.
