I think I have turned a new page in my enjoyment of the hobby. Last weekend I purchased my first two resin kits from Funaro & Camerlengo. I started assembly on a B&O 2 bay covered hopper. Although these are not as easy to assemble as plastic kits I find the additional work to be somewhat enjoyable. Here is a picture of the kit in it’s almost complete state. It is ready to have the wire components added for the grab irons and such.
Yesterday, I had a table at the show in Batavia NY. I did some wandering around while my daughter watched the table and picked up a few good deals. One of them was this Erie Dunmore caboose in brass. This is my first brass model. Although I do not think I will go crazy buying brass, it is a good way to find that unique item that is not made in plastic. I thought, when I first looked at it, that it was a factory painted unit. However, when I got it home I found that it was custom painted. Whoever did the work has inspired me to notch up my painting work a few levels. The finish is flawless and the decal edges are barely visible unless you look real close.
