brass coupler or universal coupler box

is a brass coupler box available
just seems wrong to have cheap plasic boxes on a brass model
anyone have a trick
or see some nice replacements

thanks in advance

Go with the Darwin box from The Coach Yard, at least for passenger cars. I am afraid plastic coupler boxes are all that is commercially available. I have quite a few pieces of brass rolling stock, and have had no problem with plastic coupler boxes, nor do they seem “cheap” to me. Just because something is made of brass doesn’t mean it is the finest model available.

BRASS coupler boxes would require plastic couplers to keep from shorting out when touching other metal cars, frames, or engine’s.

The plastic box allows us to insulate and use METAL coupler’s.

KD’s original #4 coupler had a metal coupler box, and had problem’s with Engine’s (since all had ‘hot’ frames.

On that note, I have electrically isolated the trucks on my brass passenger cars from the car floor. Better safe than sorry for several reasons.
