Brass/NS rail solder question.

Do brass and NS rail take solder differently? I’ve got some brass I’m gonna practice on before I start soldering on the layout.

Soldering should be practically the same on both, though the brass may be harder to solder to if it is corroded.

Nickle-Silver is a copper alloy, like brass. If both are copper alloys, and cleanliness is the most important thing.

In my experience, brass and nickel silver have virtually identical soldering characteristics. That makes old/scrap brass rail an excellent training aid.

Happy soldering

I’ve used brass rail in the past. As far as I can tell, there’s no appreciable difference.
