Brass or die cast trucks

Does anyone make these??? and if so can I replace the plastic trucks whith them… Joseph

Depends on what type trucks you’re talking about. Steam loco pilot and trailer trucks were made by Cal Scale and Precision Scale, to name just two. Passenger and freight car trucks, they used to be made, but most manufacturers have gone to engineering plastic trucks (frames) because they roll easier. It was sort of like going from friction to roller bearings in the real railroad world. I remember seeing ads in the early 70’s when the changes started showing how many more cars a loco could pull equiped with the new Delrin trucks.

Bowser makes several brass and die-cast trucks.
Precision Scale makes several brass and plastic trucks.
Eastern Car Works makes several white metal trucks.
Greenway Products makes several brass trucks.
Kadee makes several die-cast trucks.

I believe that there are actually more metal trucks on the market than plastic. you just have to look for them. All of the above companies have websites.

Brass trucks ARE Die cast - and are expensive - however are the PART of your car that does all the WORK. The following are excellent Delrin sideframes with metal wheels.

Passenger cars: The best rolling are D & G .
The cheapest ‘good’ ones are MDC - no longer in biz -especially with JayBee wheels.

FREIGHT cars: Intermountain and Kato.
