wow steamers tooooooo ---- now if they will only make something the DL&W ran

I have run into some HO Lionel rolling stock sets, 2-4-2, 4-6-2, Fs, GPs and switchers according to their 1963
catalog

May have been made by Athearn for them. That wheels sets really cleaned up using the MAAS paste. First
cleaning in 40 years.

$700.00?!

I am glad to hear about Lionel Trains returning to H_O. But I would also like to see Marx return to H-O. MustangManGZ

I have a GP30 that Lionel produced about 15-20 years ago, and it still looks great. This is pre Bachman and others. Hand rails are a little big, but thats nothing that can’t be fixed. Maybe this time aound, Lionel will do things right, and do some fine scale like we see in p2k, kato, etc.

WOULD BE GREAT TO SEE THAT LIONEL IS GOING INTO HO SCALE CAN NOT RECALL THEM BEFORE THE BACHMAN YEARS MAYBE THEY WONT BE AS PRICEY AS SOME OF THESE OTHER MANUFACTURES BUT KNOWING LIONEL(THE NAME)WILL BE RIGHT UP THERE WITH THE ATLAS & KATO HOPEFULLY NOT.

Well you never know!!!

How about Lionel doing some N scale? I’d like that!!

3 pounds of locomotive ought to pull a house!
I bet HO scale could use another manufacturer of quality locomotives & other products. I hope they can produce some operating accesories. I welcome Lionel back to HO scale and hope they produce some quality products. It would really be cool if they could also produce some quality N scale products!
Have fun Model Railroading!

Great, another ultra-expensive engine. Must be lots of rich model railroaders out there, or the manufacturers wouldn’t be trying so hard. Baby Boomers got money burning holes in their pockets? Rich retirees?

Welcome back Lionel. My original train set circa 1960 came with an 0-4-0 Pennsylvania switcher and 6 cars. What I like the best is the wheel sets have real springs. I will be looking forward to the time when they offer more than just locomotives, but you have to start somewhere.

I was totally excited to see a RTR Challenger from someone other than Rivarossi. Then I saw the retail price!! Guess I will have to wait on that one too!

I was excited to hear about Lionel coming back to HO until I saw the price. Come on Lionel, do you seriously think you’re going to get $700.00 for a Diecast locomotive. My gosh, Broadway doesn’t get that much for thiers and I dare say, you’ll have to go some to beat them for detail and just plain old outright beauty of the beast. I can only hope that you’ll come to your senses when it comes time to produce the turbine. Please, if you will, the recent fiasco with CON COR. They wanted too much for the ELECTROLINER, and couldn’t get enough orders to pay for tooling. Now the Modelrailroading community is, once again, going to have to do without a really fantastic train, that even I as a New York Central fan would have bought simply because of it’s uniqueness and collectability. Detail is great but where do we draw the line at high prices. I’m getting a nose bleed with some these prices and remember, the younger people just coming into the hobby, they can’t afford $300.00 to $700.00 for plastic or diecast. In these hard times , who can?[:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(]

Yes, yes, yes, right on. I really prefer O scale but I gave up and went to HO because of the price. While I’m always pleased to see more products I think Lionel will be lost in a sea of competitors. Competitors who already have a loyal consumer base. I think the market for HO is to big for lionel to be noticed. I would say N scale would be a good idea too. Then again there cant really use anything from the past 100 years in some thing that small so they’re still going to fight from the bottom of the heap.

$700 for a locomotive? Does it burn real coal and steam water!? That’ll buy 20 Athearn diesels…or 1700+ trees… or groceries for a couple month

LIONEL, ARE YOU LISTENING[?][?][?][?][?][?][?]

$700 for a loco. You have to be loco. My so-called soc.sec. wont cover it. I do like to
eat and have my house. Yes, what about our young new hobbiests, can their parents
afford prices like this? Besides,do we really need all the exact details on our trains?
I just like to watch mine run. If I wanted to work a train, I would hire on.

I have to really voice my opion on this. Being a hobby retail I can’t justify bringing a model into the store that is priced in this range. If it doesn’t sell it will just sit on the shelf. Times are very tight and so is competition. I can’t have a item cost in inventory at say $475 if the item doesn’t sell. I’m sure like all items the model will be FABULOUS. I will order only items that people commit to buying. Thats my business side. As for the trains eunthusiast side I would like to know why a Challenger? I am a real UP fan, but if you going to do it right you need to do 3985 and its WATER TENDERS. I lost count of how many people ask me for these to go behind their Rivirossi Challengers. And that raises another question. NO AFFORDADBLE QUALITY 3 UNIT GAS TURBINE. Seems to me there is something wrong when one of the most powerful loco’s ever have never been done other than brass in HO Scale. If you do a turbine you can market the tender alone to alot of other people. Anyone listening? According to Lionels website they will be doing a Veranda Turbine. Great I’ll just watch ebay for brass ones, seems people sell their brass when items come out in plastic or other means. I don’t know how many athearn challengers will sell, might be more since it will most likely be a bit cheaper.

sorry for the mispelled words!!
