brewery kitbash

i want to kitbash and build a brewery that would be a backdrop building. Maybe just stick out from the backdrop a couple three inches or so. Does anyone have any plans or good suggestions on what i could kit bash togeather to make a nice large brewery scene. I have about 12wide and 24inch wide area to build the scene. I would like it to be a coors brewery beings it is the Golden branch line. Any ideas would be great thanks. Scooter

Bar Mills makes a beautiful brewery as a backdrop model. I added a backside for a different space, but the basic model was nice.

bnsf0623: I use Walthers kits frequently to build back drop buildings. They lend themselves to side to side wall placement and the 1 1/2" to 2" return walls. You just have to plan carefully. If you find this intimidating I would be happy to build one for you

I did such a project years ago at my old Westport. I’ve used DPM parts. The signs were a suggestion from my son Benjamin. [:)]

I like walthers kits i have used some of there cornerstone series kits. I want to build something modern looking with a truck docking area maybe 7 or 8 docks the real brewery of course has more, and baybe some rail docks. I could maybe even beable to make it more like three feet long if needed. I was hoping to add a small town by it to replicate Golden Co, the building should be fairly tall because the brewery is huge. Not a ton of detail as far as windows and stuff maybe some stairways on the outside with a nice looking front entrance maybe with a coors brewing sign next to it. but the the whole thing will be a backdrop kitbash. I would like to try it on my own, what do you charge for kitbashing something like this. Maybe you could build the main building and i could add all the details(stairs, roof detail etc. what do you think?

i like the brewery by barmills but the only problem would be that i am trying to prototype a modern brewery. Thanks for the input.

Have you tried using Google Earth to get an idea of how the real brewery is laid out?

I toured the Coors brewery in the 90s before moving to Colorado but don’t remember much of the building details or layout. Viewing it on Google earth is a good suggestion. Since you are wanting to model a modern facility, you might look to kitbashing several Pikestuff kits. Most are based on modern metal buildings. Using sheet styrene to replicate cast concrete structures is something to consider. Mixing construction types is very appropriate for the brewing industry. Many were expanded with little consideration to design continuity.

try using foam core board sold at dollars stores, etc, then add sheets of styrene painted with a light coat of texture paint, lightly sanded to simulate concrete and pikestuff makes metal and concrete block wall panels. Just glue them on foam core for buildings, add windows, doors, details etc.

There were quite a few breweries here in Toledo from the turn of the century through the post WWII era. They all looked like multistory brick warehouse buildings. They had a large smokestack attached to one side. Some were just big, square, four or five story brick structures. Others looked like they grew without any plan. They just had another brick building of some configuration added on that fit the space at hand. There are a couple of them left standing today. One has become a restaurant on the first floor and basement. Another is now a storage warehouse. Another is abandoned, but still standing with all of its attached buildings. I think that you could use any multistory brick structure and make it a brewery with signage.
