the folks on my layout are thirsty! what would be a good kit (or starting point) for a SMALL brewery? i dont mind kitbashing. also what is the correct type of freight car for the transporting of the hopps, barley etc.?
You don’t say what scale you are in, but since you posed the same question on the Atlas N Scale Forum, I will repeat that JAKS Industries sells the Period Miniatures Berghoff Brewing Co. kit in N scale. Hops, etc., are now transported in covered hoppers but were once transported in boxcars.
OK, so maybe some HO enthusiasts have a thirsty populace as well. Walthers makes a dandy brewery, but one of the 2 people working on my layout with me says it is too big. Any ideas for HO? Kibri makes one…CMR has one for $165.00 (ouch!), Cambell makes one that looks similar to the N Period Minatures one, Heljan makes one that looks somewhat similar to the Walthers one. Any other suggestions?
Many grains were once transported in boxcars by putting a piece of plywood or such across the door opening. I saw a photo, I forget where. Well, yeah, hops are not a grain, per se, but heck, you know what I mean. Ever smell fresh hops? Very fragrant, like a bitter mint, kinda hard to explain.
