Brick Walls

I have just read the thread about using images of bricks on printed paper, but does no one sell styrene brick walls in bulk?

I want to model city buildings that are built on a ridge. The main street and main entrances are at the top of the ridge, and the ridge falls away on both sides of main street. The buildings are buit so that there is additional parking and a door at the back, which is one floor down. In other words, the lower floor is built into the side of the hill.

I have not found a source for brick walls. Does anyone know of a source? Or, will paper images of brick really look okay?

Thanks for any info.

Plastruct, Vollmer does. There are numerous companies that sell empossed paper bricks, one being Papercreek Models. Holgate & Reynolds used to. Paper images work fine for backgound buildings. I have even found some large brick walls and photgrapghed them then copied wall sections over and over to create sheet sized brick walls myself. Its not really all that hard to do.

dehusman,

This definitly a foreground application, so I take it from your response that paper might not be the best choice. I will out check Plastruct and Vollmer.

Thanks!

Lots of people use paper for foreground models. I thought your description of the buildings being “on a ridge” implied they were in the background. Look at Papercreek.

I’d recommend Plastruct. Not only do they offer sheets of bricks, they also offer a variety of scales, and even a few variations of brick patterns. You can mix them up a little by getting the larger brick pattern and painting it gray to represent cinder block.

As stated there are a number of sheets of photo and plastic brickwork. Have you concidered the Cornerstone Modular pieces. Might be able to find a selection that would give you parts to do what you want and already have doors and windows already cut in place (big job on a big building). Mix modular walls with brick sheets.

Good luck,

Thanks, everybody. This will give me enough to look over and find what I need.
