Does anyone know were I can get info on bilding HO bridges
*Model Railroad Bridges and Trestles.*This is a great book from Kalmbach. It told me all I needed to know to built several.
When I needed to build a bridge some years back I studied books on how real bridges are built then scaled that down to HO and built one, complete with properly sized trusses and beams. The whole thing (with the obvious exception being the track) was made of wood but looked like metal.
The first question is what kind of bridge do you want to build? What will it cross; a small stream or a large valley? What do you want to build it from, wood, plastic, foam? Finally, what do you want it to look like? A spindly, rickety trestle, a strong steel bridge with ornate superstructure or a rock solid stone & concrete viaduct? You have options…

I don’t know if this site would interest you, but I found it useful to learn of the different bridge types. Perhaps you will too.
Hi, I’m new to the Forum. I’m just getting starting on a layout and want to have a bridge. Your bridge sounds kinda cool Jeffrey, could you post some pictures of it so I can have a few ideas as I get started. How did you make a wood bridge look like metal?
