Now who dug this hole here??? You ever wonder why you do what you do?? I must be nuts . (fact).
Bangs Cayon Bridge is just about operational.
Above i am waitng for my garden metal Models cat walks to arrive on my hand made girder beams.
From abutment to abutment its 19 ft long. first bridge is 6ft ,then 10 ft, then 35"
It all starts as a dream.
My 14 yr old son Pat learning to weld.
Kinda fun, just thought I’d share it.
You can find the full step by step thread on Mylargescale.com
track roadbed forum under steel roadbed.,I think???[:I]
Marty, NOW THAT"S SCALE! If that bridge doesn’t support the weight I don’t know what will. Extremely Cool[8D]. That look’s like somthing I would try… the funny thing is I generally think of building everything the real way… Then I read a thread or an article that shows a much easier way to do it. Modeling skills evade my mind of 1 to 1 scale building. I guess I better finish welding my Camaro’s quarter panel on first though before I tackle a bridge.
Gas wire welder is all I know.
The first span is 6ft, then 11 ft then 3 ft.
finally get to back onto the bridge. i don’t have track yet for the eastern line.
just right for cameras hooked to short people.
The garden metal Model handle rails really finish off the girder and makes the bridge more complete.
FUN.
It was really HOT the evening this photo was taken. I must be NUTS…[^]
Believe me it was very hot and humid that day.
i had a couple of run-bys tonight. The problem is that there is only 4 , 20ft dia curves of track layed to the east. I’m waiting for Aristo’s track sale this fall.
Thats one impressive bridge. I am astounded. And you built that steel bridge. I wasn’t sure about building a wooden one. But, It was inspiring. I plan to bridge the dicth between my house and my friends house. I’ll use cement, because when therse alot of water in it, I can go fast. I’ll try it.
Nick
P:S: I won’t dig up their yard, I’ll just stop the ballast after the bridge and
just lay the track on the grass for easy removal
