Bringing toy trains to work

Guys,

On Tuesday I’m bringing some of my toy trains to work and setting up a small 027 layout on my desk.

Once I run the trains, I’ll try to renegotiate trackage rights over my colleague’s desks as well.

I’m going to power them with DCS and add some scenery. Nothing permanent as we are moving to another location in Crystal City at year’s end.

I’ll post some photos probably next week, as I’m planning to move the layout in on Tuesday.

May use the train to pass notes, cookies, pens or other things; so it will have a revenue function.

This isn’t the first work layout I’ve had. I did an around the wall HO layout for my old office in the Navy League.

BTW, do you think that the smoke might set off the smoke alarm? Probably won’t use it much as it may annoy some, anyway.

If you have a work layout, I’d like to hear about it & see pictures.

Plan to lock the locomotive up in the desk each night, btw.

Here’s the old HO shelf layout in my old office.

I have an oval of N scale Life Like power lock roadbed track hanging on my wall at work along with an SW switcher, cars, and station sitting on a shelf. During a noon hour I can set the oval on my desk and run the train. I use a Kato feeder wire with a snap disconnect to connect the power pack. The set up works nicely.

Work has started on the trackplan, which now is a dogbone, but may do a figure 8 and run trackage along 2 peninsulas that jut into the hallway.

Planning to bring some tinplate structures next week and trains and transformer and TIU on Thursday of this week.

May need to look at some Thor plans.

Hello Dave ! I bet if you brought in a reissue of Lionel’s Military Postwar set from 2 years ago with the missiles of the # 44 engine. All of the staff would crowd around it and want to take turns shooting off the missiles from the Train.[:)]…Keith
