I hope it will.

I could totally support that!

Amen to that. Nascar fans should like this too!

Beyond Bristol, Virginia, lay potential extensions to Knoxville and Chattanooga, Tennessee; Huntsville and Sheffield, Alabama; and Memphis,Tennessee. With an extension to Memphis, such a train could be named the “Tennessean” like the original Southern streamliner on this route.

The Tennessee Valley between Chattanooga and Memphis has been devoid of revenue passenger trains for 47 years (which was the age of my father when service ended). Birmingham already has passenger train service in the form of the “Crescent”.

The “Texas Eagle” could have a Memphis section added or set-out in Little Rock for connection to/from the West and Southwest.

Right on Mr. Vinson!

Glad to hear this. Definitely hope it happens.

How close would any extension into Tennessee come to serving Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville?

how many hours does the Lynchburg-Roanoke extension add to the present schedule, and how many more hours is it to Bristol?

This development is encouraging to me. Taking a very long view I think I can see where it might be leading. Following the extension of passenger traffic from Lynchburg into Roanoke, the next natural expression is a continuation to Bristol. And thence? Knoxville, of course, and possibly beyond. To Nashville finally after so long a drought? To Chattanooga and on to a conceivable connection with the Crescent at Atlanta or Birmingham or maybe in a stretch to the City of New Orleans at Memphis? In a quarter-century we might even have the country’s most glaringly absent route re-established from Chicago to Tampa/Miami via Louisville, Nashville, Atlanta or Birmingham, and Jacksonville. Nah! Make that a half-century. Nevertheless Lynchburg-Roanoke-Bristol possibilities cause some of us to begin salivating just a stir.

My family would ride it as it would make for an easy trip to Delaware. Plus no belt ways to fight in DC or Balto.
