british rail Mark 4 coaches...

does anyone know if there are any HO models available of the Mark 4 coaches built in england, used by (I believe) GNER among others, and such as were built for the (never actualized) Nightstar service and were sold to VIA rail??

Possibly any similar coaches available?

Tim,

Hornby produce the Mark 4 coach in a variety of body styles (restaurant , 1st and 2nd class) in OO scale . The one thing to consider is that the mark 4 stock was built with a body profile suitable for tilting operation , so if you are looking to convert some to nightstar stock this will be the wrong body profile , you would be better off using a Mark 3 car , although this would need extensive rebuilding to turn it into Nightstar/Enterprise cars.

Cheers

Rich

YES THERE IS. HORNBY AGAIN IN 00 VARIOUS LIVERIES IF THATS ANY HELP

Tim ,

Mark 3 coaches have been produced by Hornby , Lima and Joueff in OO scale.

The Hornby range now includes their new re-tooled mark 3s , and a couple of items from the ex-Lima range that they accquired , namely sleeper and TGS.

Looking at some pics I took whilst travelling on Via Rail’s Ocean service earlier this year , the trucks need changing as well from the mark 3 type.

Good luck with this project , I 'd like to see how you get on ( or maybe we could lobby Rapido Trains to produce the cars [^] )

Rich

haha, thanks…well, this one might be a while materializing…

and it would be wonderful if Rapido would make them…I know they said originally that it was on their list of eventual projects, so once they’re done with the LRC’s, we may well see one coming along…

HELLO EVERYONE, IVE JUST GOT BACK INTO MY FAVORITE HOBBY IN THE WORLD… well as far as this discussion goes there is almost no chance of rapido making the nightstar/ renaissance cars in HO it seems that the demand is no where as great as expected, there for it will be mothballed for now, the LRC coaches and loco in HO scale is in limbo right now. due to low/ little demand. it doesnt not equal out in cost of manufacturing for Rapido. SO if we want Rapido to roll out more canaidian rolling stock more pre-orders have to be made. I myself am Alibre autocading the renaissance cars in HO scale and possibly going to have the draft sent to a prototype molder I know outside of Chicago IL. Wont cost me more than a few hundred dollars. if promising I might remold the prototype and make resin kits out of it. so just keep that in mind. good luck. Buddah
