Build a line from Canada to Alaska and tunnel under the Bering Strait it would save a whole lot of loading and unloading ships. I guess transshipment is the posh word.
Nice idea Rodney except the Russians use 1,520 mm gauge which is almost 5 feet. You would still have to transfer cargos or use rolling stock capable of routine gauge conversion like they do in Spain.

Given the costs for other (shorter) luxury rail trips, this is a bargain rate…
