Is BLI packing up and jumping ship? Seems like it.

David B

The list is long but is not relevant to the BLI Blue Line, which is replacing the older line with QSI. The previous deal or contract with QSI is over and they have developed their own sound without the DCC drive decoder installed.

Many of the items have already been announced as the Blue Line with the BLI sound. It is my guess that BLI will no longer import any models with the QSI since they have reduced the price of all of the Blue Line models to an almost cheap price.

I liked the QSI sound units in general, but not all were great. The upgrade chip for the QSI with the alternate chuff really helped to make me like them more. Ihave listened to some of the sound bytes of the new BLI sound module and it is OK, but will require some improvements if they want to be competitive.

Cheers

QSI aint dead yet. I simply rely on Walthers Proto and other Manufactors who still carry QSI in thier engines. And of course there is loksound.

Blueline to me simply postpones the inevitable for Analog people. They will have to go to DCC eventually.

The QSI Upgrade chip restores the lost features that were contested by the MTH in the lawsuit some time ago. My BLI M1a from 2003 had the upgrade chip installed and she moves on just one click of the DT400 throttle versus 15-30 clicks on the old QSI lawsuit chip.

I plan to upgrade the other engines in my fleet as well. It will take time and money and QSI is thier own supplier, NOT BLI. In fact, I suspect Tony’s Train Exchange is actually QSI… but not sure. At least they are a very good provider of QSI products… OUTSTANDING.

If I was QSI I would focus on issuing decoders such as Soundtraxx, Digitrax etc… sooner or later everyone will stop using thier patented technology in new run retail engines.

Hopefully by then QSI can still remain revelant with these aftermarket decoders that will be necessary.

I also checked the BLI website, not a peep anywhere about this announcement.

Pesonally I feel that I am witnessing the end of a Era and a great Locomotive Manufactor… I will need to move on with engines from other suppliers (Already doing so)

So why in the world did you quote it? Don’t you know how to edit a quote?

I agree with your assessement of QSI! They make a good product and the P2K and Atlas units are using them. Their orginal deal with BLI got their products out to the market and hopefully soon we will be able to purchase a stand alone unit from QSI.

The Blue Line sound needs some work also much like the original QSI sound decoders. I would hope they continue to upgrade their sound to keep current with the latest releases. Tony’s is a big supplier of all DCC products including the QSI, but I don’t think any other connection exists between QSI and Tony’s.&nbs

The original poster could have simply provided a link instead of all that text… my [2c]

Yes, I would usually edit such a long response but I wanted to make a point.

Sorry, I forgot the point. The list gone now so we are all safe.

Cheers

I recieved that list as it was and did not want to change one letter of it. I think for a posting it is a record.
