Broadway Limited HO scale Paragon2 Hudson J1e steam locomotive

I haven’t had a hands-on look at the Paragon 2 J1e, but I’m bothered by one version of the model: #5344. Known as “The Most Famous Hudson”, her chequered career included several streamlined styles - her 20th Century Limited period cut short by a grade crossing meet with a sand truck.
This left her with Scullin Disc Drivers - fitted in her Mercury era

  • a PT tender, a Niagara face and enough boiler mods to be almost a J3.
The Paragon model has the PT, original face and spoked drivers!

I have to agree on the weight issue. I’d like to be able to pull a long string of boxcars or coal cars, prototypical of these fine engines. Also, the programming was OK, but again, more is needed for finer tuning, and let’s drop the barnyard/city sounds. I can buy an MRC stand alone sound system for that nonsense . . . it doesn’t need to be in a high quality locomotive. Besides, when’s the last time you saw chickens running along side 40-tons of fire-breathing, smoke-belching, boiler-hissing locomotive?

Further to my May 29 comment on the Paragon 2 J1e:
OOPS! 5344 didn’t get a Niagara face, foot-in-mouth on the Web,
Oh, the shame. No home computer, so I visit the public library and I didn’t have Al Staufer’s THOROUGHBREDS handy, got 5344
confused with J3 5450 - another hudson, notable for a different reason: sending its boiler into orbit due to low water.
5450 had Skull & Discs and a PT, and got a Niagara face with her new boiler, I have a West Side brass model - yet to be painted.

When I opened the box of my new Hudson , I couldn’t find any instruction on how to operate it. Also no parts definition, just a bunch of pictures. If I need parts , I’ll have problems. A picture of the loco and tender with indentidentifying info would be great.

God please forgive me! I sin! As a PRR fan I made the mortal sin and I bought this marvelous BLI 4-64 J1e NYC Hudson! I just could not resist! The J1e has a great sound and the performance is marvelous! Now on the fight among the Broadway Limited and the Twentieth Century Limited will be thought! Thanks BLI for this new grat engine!
