Broadway Limited HO scale Pennsyvania RR Q2 4-4-6-4
i have this locomotive an it does everthing the reviewer says the engine runs as smoth as a swiss watch an has numerios adjustable cv for all its sounds …the only thing i wish it had was a spear traction driver for those who would like a little more pulling am going to try that bull frog snut so it will be able to manae some of my mountain grades better best running broadway steam so far.
It may be said that this is the most detailed model ever built, but it most certainly isn’t. Some very prominent details are missing, e.g. the handrails that lead up from the pilot to the walkway. Only the prototype didn’t have them, but the production models had them all. And the eccentric crank is running backwards on the fireman’s side (this is the case with so many mass produced steam locomovites). Still, a good model for the price, but no match for Key’s last run.
As an owner of one of these units from the first run, its perhaps the heaviest and best runner in my fleet. Speed wise, the unit runs superbly on DC also. To activate any sounds or do any programming on DC, you simply need BLI’s DC Master. Even without traction tires, I have little if any problem pulling 16+ car trains.
Just got mine and love it…very smooth and powerful, great smoke and sound. I had to do a hardware reset when I first got it but everything normal since then. Almost every function is CV adjustible and the support from Broadway Limited service department is great. They answer their e-mails quickly and are very knowledgeable. Detailing is beyond what I expected and the valve gear and side rods are a show in themselves.
I just purchased one and discovered the air pumps on the right side of the engine are incorrectly installed. I contacted Broadway Limited about this and they blew me off, saying it is a problem that cannot be fixed. It is a nice model but I returned the locomotive to the seller as I believe I paid too much to have a visually defective product. Has anyone else noticed this problem?
The Q2 is just great! It is very well done and is a great runner!
I had a WSM brass version and it look very crude compared to this BLI brass hybrid. The sound, smoke and performance is great. It is a pleasure see it running fast miles with a hotshot! I just cold not resist and I had to buy the original and the production versions! They are powerful also. You can put a long string of freight cars and see this monster run like a deere!
BLI has done a grat job! I just coul not6 expect for the GN 4-8-4!
i have this locomotive too and just love the way it runs the fris brass i have ,love the detailed just new to the hobby,so just geting in to it.my latout is 17x4 DCC just working on track now.
One of the best locomotives I own and probably the best locomotive BLI has ever produced!
