Broadway Limited - Hybrid GN S2 - Looks great

Well, it finally arrived.

Almost worth waiting for, almost.

The engine is indeed a very detailed model.

The sound is great as well. I have a few other BLI steamers and the new Paragon 3 sound system is a step above their old units.

Not being a fan of the smoke unit I woult not have even tried it but when I put it on the test track it was hooked up and functioning. There was some fluid in the resivour, I assume from being tested befrore being shipped out.

The puffing smoke is really something to see. I was amazed at just how thick the smoke was and the puffs were all fully in sync. I will not use this feature (at least for now) so will not bother obtaining any more fluid.

The cab has a light feature and is fully detailed. looks great.

MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…!!! [:P]

A bit better detailed than my Tenshodo models of the S-2, wish it had been the S1 with the unual GN squared Belpaire firebox though. Liked that look, more brutish in a way.

That is beautifully detailed, Don. Do you know if there’s any risk of that smoke fuid seeping out of the unit, particularly if it’s stored on its side? It seems like that stuff migrates everywhere, even from enclosed smoke units.

Apropos of things dripping, Crandell I can feel your drool all the way down here! [um]

[:D]Nelson, at my age, pride doesn’t count for much. I drool, pass wind, belch, and generally make a nuisance of myself in ways my wife would have been horrified to experience 39 years ago. From there it was a controlled and very gradual slide into reality.

As the engine is packed it is laying on its side. There was no sign of any fluid leaks in the box.

As I mentioned when I tested the engine it did have some smoke fluid in it at the time and i got to see the full effects of the smoke system.

Frankly I was quite impressed with it, the smoke stream itself was far more that the wispy smoke I remember from years ago from the trains of that era. The smoke puffs were syncranized very well to the wheel movement. Most impressive.

However, I will pass on anyi future use of the smoke unit.

It seems that they have learned how to make more smoke with less fluid, given the amount that modern smoke units can pour out. Hopefully the oil is safely trapped in the batting, and the unit is well sealed.

Crandell, I know it’s been a while since I was here, but have things really gotten that bad? I guess I have a lot to look forward to, then. In the meantime, I’m sure glad they added this umbrella emote. [(-D][um]
