Broadway Limited Imports HO BlueLine SD40-2 diesel

Erom what I can see, yhis model appears to have very good operating qualities and excellent pulling power. The detail on the shell look ok to me,we should be happy to have this model available despite some of it’s shortcoming this is a very nice looking model.

i dont yet own a broadway limited but the more i read i am soon to add to my collection of proto2000. i would like to see it in chessie system(b&o)

I have this train and I can vouch for the review. I have a question for the DCC savy though. I run DC. Would I be able to drop a DCC decoder into the train and run it on DC? I have a Proto 2000 with DCC and sound and it runs just fine on my DC layout. Would I need to program the decoder to work or would it run just plugging it into the board. Any help would be appreciated.

Got a Tech II? Try this out of the box. Power switch on, momentum on, Twist the throttle sharply to “50”, watch the miracle. Twist the throttle abruptly to “00” THE SOUND AND ENGINE CONTROL IS AMAZING TO WATCH. Add a handfull of cars and the sound box and things get efen better. I am adding DCC now with switchable ditch lights, directional headlights, number boards, cab lights and directional markers. Thanks for reading…

I dont hav one yet but this video makes it look great im gonna buy one real soon-that is, if dad lets me borrow some money

I have just received my BLI SD40-2. The sound is impressive & very complex. On DC & DCC the model runs very smoothly but I am still trying to get the DCC (NCE N141P decoder)to operate to my satisfaction. As soon as I program it to run on a low voltage to match other locos the notching effect fails to operate, probably because its below 4v. This is my first “DC/DCC” type sound loco (my others are Soundtraxx) & I am disapointed that the high starting voltage appears to preclude 'muing’it with other quality non-sound locos. BLI barely mention this aspect within their manual (supplied) or their technical manual (downloaded). Perhaps an MR expert (Don Fiehmann?)could write an article on this. However, this model certainly offers amazing value for money & if I can’t resolve the ‘lash-up’ problem I may just buy some more & keep them as a seperate consist! Yes they are that good!

This product seems very realistic but i’d probably get a Loksound V3.5 Sound Decoder for this and get the non sound/DCC epuipped version of this because Loksound Sound Decoders are more realistic sounding and can be customized much, much, more. P.S. Kalbach Publishing how would i get my layout into your magazine.

I’ve been hestitating getting one of these, your review and the comments from others have made up my mind, I’m going to get one altho I would really like to see them make a Pacific or Hudson configuration In plain black paint as I have my own logo for the SAD&D RR that I operate

I have several Atlas with BLI sound boards in them. The sound is great, if this unit runs and sounds as good, I will purchase one later on.

After much thought I now have one. I wish it had only one complete decoder. Getting the engine and sound to work in a consist is not easy. Still in the process of reading the over 100 page manual. Runs fine as a single engine.

Have a friend who purchased 3 SD40-2. Had problems after installing decoder changing address. He has a Digitrax Zephyr unit. One easy way I found to change address is using a DT400 throttle program on main in ops mode as you normally would. works like a charm. Don’t have to do CV 17 CV 18 or CV 29.

I have 2 BLI units; 1 F3 Diesel set (both powerer w/sound) and 1 steam unit and they are beautiful and run smooth. Need more L&N early diesel units.

i have not yet owned this train, but the more i read about it, does broadway ltd. make this train in a union pacific paint scheme? If the do i would love to have it, currently I am planning and building my layout, and it will run dc but i plan on changing to dcc, should i just get a dcc and run on dc? (Can You Do That?!)
