I received this model for an anniversary present. It does everything that the review says and does, with one exception, the review never mentions the “oooohs” and “aaahs” that your railroad visitors inevitably utter when they see this runner on your railroad.
That’s the wrong whistle up next to the stack. What’s there looks like a N&W single-chime hooter. It ought to be a long stepped 6-chime, the “western railroad” whistle".
I am having mechanical problems with this steam engine, I hope that it is not permanent. I recently sent it back to Broadway Limited to get it repaired. It was making a mechanical grinding noise when it was moving forward. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
All the wheels(but the drivers) are not to NMRA standards. The “K” dimension (distance between the flanges) is less than the minimum NMRA standard and isn’t adjustable. The axles are shorter than the NMRA standard of 1.035in making replacement difficult. The only possibility is a company called Jay-Bee that claims to make the “euro type” or shorter axle wheel sets.
