I may seem a little confused. But what’s the differance between On2-1/2 and On30? Why is it so hard to find ready to run equipment? thanks for any comments.

There really is no difference. On2-1/2 means a O scale narrow gauge with 2 and one half FEET between the rails. On30 means O narrow gauge with 30 INCHES between the rails, which is exactly the same measurement. These terms are interchangeable. The preferred term used now is On30. As a side note, both these terms refer to models in O scale that run on track that is HO gauge. You can run these using cheap HO track. You can buy On30 track with O scale ties and tie spacing for better looks. The best news, you can lay your own track, and since it is HO gauge there are plenty of track tools to help!

I can see how one can be easily be confused, but Vince is 100% correct, but nobody and figure out why MRR uses On2 1/5, instead of On30, which is what everyone else uses nowadays
