Broadway Ltd 2-10-4 Traction Tires

I recently bought one of the Broadway Ltd. 2-10-4 ATSF “Texas” type engines. Unlike their three heavy Mikados and two Northerns that I have the 2-10-4 has traction tires on the rear driving wheels. My experience with traction tires on past Rivarossi engines is that they are not very reliable. Therefore I am planning to replace the drivers with the tires on them with the extra set that was provided that doesn’t have the tires. Are there any tricks to the swap?

There should be a small wrench in the box with the locomotive that you have to use to remove the side rods, and instructions should also be included showing how to remove and replace the drivers.
