broadway paragon qsi..diesel... cv6..how to set cv for mid speed setting

i tried to find the answer in the search … no satisfactory result

bought a speed unit to check the speed of my ho locos… set the cvs for approx 20 locos on the weekend… tried to programmea broadway with qsi

cv’s 2.3.4.5 all set ok… could not set cv6

i set all the locos i did to 50 mph full speed cv5… 25mph half speed cv6 no problem

the booklet that came with the broadway loco lists all the cv numbers that can be changed … cv 6 is not listed

when cv2 is set and cv5 is set ( 50mph) the mid range speed is indicated as 29mph… toooo fast… need to set to correct speed… any ideas… and yes i did read the manual… no mention of cv6

Use a speed table, CV67 through CV94. Decoder Pro is your best friend for this task.

To my knowledge, QSI does not support CV6 (mid), just CV2 (min, start) and CV5 (max, finish).

CV6 is not supported by all manufacturers. Among those that don’t support it, there are some Lenz and Throttle UP (Soundtraxx Tsunami).

reply from broadway… thank you

Hello Peter,
Sorry for the delayed response, we will be happy to assist you.

Pater,

Without pulling up my QSI pdf, I think they’re talking about using speed tables here as was earlier mentioned. Instead of using only the three, CV2, Cv5 and CV6, once you enable it, a custom, user-defined speed table you create does that, over 28 steps or so IIRC. That will allow you to do essentially the same thing as CV6, but in more detail.

Generally, you should still set CV2 and CV5 as you usually would, but make sure they match up with the user-defined speed table scheme you use, i.e. CV2 should be as low as or lower than first speed step you define and CV5 should be as high or higher than the top speed step you enter (unless the manual calls specifically for something different.)

got it worked out…cv29…054

cv25…002

cv2…001

cv66…55

cv95…54

cv3… 10

cv4…10… this gives me the speed i wanted… 50mph top… 25mph mid… i prog 5 x locos all ran perfect thru my…speedometer

also turned on the flashing ditch lights cv39- 6… cv40 - 0 cv51 - 41 cv52 - 57

got another 7 x athearn sound locos to prog then need to sort out my MTH locos to control the speed… drop top speed from 97 mph to 50 mph… i saw a video on you tube how to instal second decoder to control the speed… similar to old broadway blueline… cannot find the video… peter
