Broken Motor Mount

I have an older HO Scale diesel locomotive. I’m not sure who made it or what it is, kind of looks like an Alco MRS-1. The motor mount is broken. The plastic looked old and brittle. The motor mount was plastic hooked to the motor itself with four holes going through the bottom of the loco’s frame, just like modern HO loco’s. Are there replacement mounts? If not, how do I fix it?

I can add a picture is someone tells me how to do it.

Heathfg, Would it be possible for you to post a photo of what you are looking for?? It may help you get postive response…

Jeff

Sure, I can do that, but how do I post a picture on here?

If you want to try it and its not broken bad! Crazy glue works wonders

Carl…

PROBABLY IS an Athearn Motor mount.

A Std. part used in ALL/most Athearn BB engines. Athearn’s parts dpmt should have. Replace both.
2. Someone may have - for the price of postage.
( I throw mine out with re-motoring).
4. Silcone Rubber will do as a sub. Don’t use any ‘hardening’ glue.
EDIT: (that includes ‘Crazy Glue’) - Sorry AC4400 fan.

Do yourself a favor: http://www.ppw-aline.com/re-power.htm

Thought if it was somthing that didnt atach to the moter itself, and they were sepeate this might be a quik fix for you,

It sounds like an Athearn engine, and those motor mounts are available from them. Check their web site parts list to get the stock number and then phone them to order the parts.

I agree here to, some of the older Motor mounts used in the BB Athearn units turned to iron I swear, its an easy fix and pretty cheap to do. Check with your LHS they might have some on hand!

After re-reading your post with rested eyes, the others are probably right… Athearn… For future reference though, to post a photo you need to upload it to a host. You can’t directly post photos onto the forum… Once you have it up loaded, simply paste a link (for clickable) within your message text like this…

To make it just come up when the thread is opened, place it between 2 image tags like this…

(image)http://www.rolleiman.com/trains/wab2821.gif(/image) but replace the parrenthasees with square brackets (the 2 keys next to the backslash on a PC keyboard) and you’ll get…
