Brush fire destroys Zig Zag Railway equipment

We Aussies are a tough bunch and the people who donate so much time and put in the effort at Zig Zag Railway will surely not let this beat them. I have been fortunate enough to have visited there and the people that run that railway are fantastic.

… and a terrific rail line to ride. I wish I could still get to Austrailia and explore the Blue Mountains. The Aussies are great people and the country is great for tourists.

This is not ‘Western New South Wales’ but the ‘western escarpment of the Blue Mountains’. The sandstone uplifted plateau that dominates and obstructed western exploration, in early colonisation 1790 ~ 1830’s.

These are Aussie ‘Bush Fires’ not ‘Brush Fires!’

If you want to view the Blue Mountains of Australia get the movie THE MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER. The vista is awesome…

Whatever kind of fires they are, this is sad news. I have a Microsoft Train Simulator rendering of this route that was put together by a resident of the area. It is fantastic.

I have visited and stayed overnight at Zig Zag many years ago… it was freezing weather at the time! I am sad to see photos of an ex Queensland Railways 2000 class railmotor set burnt out… irreplaceable. Just glad that no lives were lost.
