Gives me another idea for my layout. Will be looking at it very closely.
Interesting model. With a couple of modifications will go nicely on my new layout.
look to me a nice little industry but what do i do to change it in nscale dimension
I wonder if a small shelf layout could be based solely on liquid asphalt operation
How would I back date it to the transition era?
Did asphalt producers ship it in hard blocks in boxcars to be remelted by highway construction people?
Very nice,though out good.
very realistic wow what a model!!!
Would it be appropriatte to use verticle tanks and or add more liquid products for storage / shipping on this same site
nice model… I’m trying to model a similar industry, and this article can give me some tips. Mine’s N scale though.
Excellent article. It will help me in my layout. Thanks
@ Mark Haley I have prototype photo’s of a transfer facility here in Florida that has vertical tanks as well. I plan to use this article as basis to build the Florida style industry in my photo!!
Just the kind of article of interest to city slickers like me. Nearest I ever got to asphalt was when I hired a contractor to resurface my driveway, but I never had a clue where the stuff came from. My congrats to Clyde for a nicely done model, and to MR for running the article. Keep them coming, guys!
Just what I need to add to my layout, Thanks!
Great model and the article is lots of help but it is too clean as compared to the real liquid asphalt depots whether they be at rail side or not.
could be used as abackgroung building
Fantastic detail on actual production techniques for modelling. As a relative newcomer to the modelling gig, it’s just what the doctor ordered! Keep 'em coming guys!
Though it may not e just what I can use it looked as though it would be a good part for any one who can
Great Article! It places another idea in my train of thought!
Is this ran by the Union Pacific?
