hello to all I am starting to build my table i have a 3/4"x4’x8’ spruce plywood with 1/2" dense pink foam i’m unsure if i should glue it down or nail it down. Any advise would be very helpfull. Thank you in advance
Glue if you want it permanent. Screws it not.
Is everyone doing foam on top of the plywood now-a-days? I will be starting to build mine soon and foam sounds interesting since you’d be able to get some terrain I’d imagine…
Can you buy foam at your local home depot?
Glue it with latex caulk, just make sure that the caulk is safe to use on your foam as some caulking can melt foam.

on a side note: when asking for foam at a building supply store ask for “foam insulation board”.
thank you for your advise think i wiil glue it down to make it permament thank you again
From what i have read and ive talked to alot of train techs and they say foam is the way to go. It make the whole table quieter and you can also makes your landscaping alot easier to do like streams lakes etc. just carve them out of the foam.
That does sound like a good plan… Can’t wait to get started building!
