I’m am a UK based USA HO diesel modeller (caught the bug while living close to railroad in chicago). I have around 20 locomotives and am progressively converting engines I buy on ebay from DC to DCC with sound (using german made locksound chips - very good!) and rewiring lighting.
Its great fun.
I have fallen in love with an Athearn U 30 C Milwaulkee Road running number 5651 shell ( found an actual picture of real loco on Flickr). I have acquired a chassis and am now looking for handrails, boggies and motor.
Seems handrails are very difficult to find. Does anyone know of source or for instructions to make handrails?
A company called Smokey Valley Railroad Products made handrail kits for many Athearn models. They were brass and wire. Don’t know if they are still in business.
