I built that kit several years back and just wanted to say you have done a fine job. I especially like the window treatment. I put scratch built awnings on the street level windows, which helped break-up the vertical height of the model a bit. I used thin forest green cloth glued to a card stock frame.

Nice model.

Yeah, I built that kit when it firsts came out, but I modeled it a little differently, and the back side is the part that shows on the railroad, along with the rear of an apartment house building. These buildings are along the elevated part of my Santa Fe mainline in Oklahoma City. Great buildings.

Thanks

I’m planning on using the supplied awnings when I’m done with the wall treatments and have the sidewalks installed.

We have this building on our club layout. If you go to the train show at the big “E” in W. Springfield at the end of the month, visit the Quaboag Valley Railroaders layout and have a look. It was built before I was a member, but, we recently added a Miller Engineering “Ambassador Hotel” electronic sign (Miller # 68811).

While it would be expensive, it would really be cool to buy two of the Bachmann CityScenes Ambassador Hotels and kitbash to transform it from a 6-story hotel to a 10-story hotel by adding in the middle four floors from the second kit.

Nicely Done Alan,

I built this building several years ago when first on market. I like the way you made the canopy over the entrance into a walk out patio. It adds another dimension of activity to the scene. Good idea and I’ll be looking into doing same.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I am building the Ambassador Hotel and in need of some spare parts.

The kit comes with one set of fire escapes, but I would like to add a second set.

Has anyone built this hotel without installing the fire escapes?

If the fire escape parts are still available, and you would be interested in selling those spare parts, please send me a Private Message.

Thanks.

Rich

I don’t know what the fire escapes that come with that kit look like, but Tichy makes a set that might work for you: http://tichytraingroup.com/index.php?page=view_product.php&id=278&picture=8060_2

maxman, thanks for that link. That may be a viable option if I cannot find someone with some unused fire escape parts from the Ambassador Hotel kit.
