Does anyone have any experience with the Bullfrog unit. I just ordered a dozen and I am now concerned that the throw may not be long enough. I have 1/2’ plywood and 2’ of foamboard to go through not counting the roadbed. Anyone have this same issue.?
A possibility is to replace the throw with something like piano wire cut to the length you need. Hope this helps.
It’ll be fine. At worst you’ll need to get some additional wire to make longer ones to go up through the hole. I have FOUR inched of foam on top of plywood, plus cork roadbed, and while I use servo motors, the method is the same, the mechanism tilts a piece of piano wire back and forth over a fulcrom on the machine, which then is stuck int eh hole int he middle of the torowbar. It works fine, even with the 4 inched of foam. This was a common ‘complaint’ heard when people first started usign foam: “Oh no, a Tortoise won’t woth through that thick of a table, they can only work with 1/2” plywood" ABsolute HOGWASH. Tortoises, and manual machines that use the same style of operation (Bullfrog, Bluepoint), and other systems like servos, work FINE through thicker bases.
