Anybody using Fast Tracks bullfrog turnout control for their DCC layout? If so how are they working for you?

Just about to find out… The first 5 of these have been built and just getting to the track laying stage on the upper deck where these will be installed. BTW, except for the throats to the hidden staging yard, all turnouts are manually controlled and have worked out well (three using RC push rods and 5 using slide switch mechanisms). After nearly 40 years in this hobby, I’ve come to prefer manual turnout throws but that’s an aside.

I’m just starting my first DCC layout, I had a 4’x8’ DC as a kid. Trying to decide on insulated or non-insulated frog turnouts, and whether there controlled with a DCC tortoise or a simple manual control like the bullfrog. This is all new to me!

Bullfrog by Fast tracks is great. I used a Bullfrog setup on my Free-Mo module and it is wonderfull. I will continue to use them. Take a look at the Fast Tracks web site. Lots of information via video tutorial. I am about to embark on building my own code 83 turnouts with a Fast Tracks jig. Great stuff, excellent and well engineered products.

Hi Sheldon-
I’ve been using several FT BullFrogs on a busy yard ladder. They were easy to assemble and install. A bit of fine tuning was necessary for the cam to activate the electrical switch controlling frog polarity.
I’m new to this, would you need the switch for an insulated frog turnout?
Sheldon
YES if you want your frogs powered, NO if you have mid to long locos with GOOD power pickup an no need for powered frogs…Jerry
I am building a O gauge 3 rail layout and have one Bullfrog. Works perfect and I will use Bullfrog for all remote turnouts.
I have 18 bullfrogs on my layout and they work great.
