BURGLERS WERE CAUGHT

This is my lucky day. Now get this. Last night 2 guys and a girl walked into the hobbie shop 3 miles from my home. They had to be the dumbest people alive. They carried in 3 of the FSM kits I got stolen. They wanted to know if anyone would be interested in the stuff he had. The owner of the hobbie shop asked if he had anything else. They all left and came back in with every kit that was taken. The police told me that they actually broiught in 6 boxes full of new kits. The owner called police right away while they were in there.

Now the kicker. The owner of the hobbie shop is the club President of the MRR club I belong to and is aware of everything that was taken. The police arrested them and when they searched the house they lived in they found the rest of the stuff. I got back EVERYTHING that was stolen. Or I will get it back.

Now the bad news. I got a phone call at 10:00 last night to come to the hobbie shop. I knew something was wrong. That’s were I got to see them. I knew 2 of them. I meet one of them in that Pinecroft Fire Hall were they have train shows. He called me 2 weeks ago and asked if he could come and see the layout. I said sure. He also brought someone whom I never meet. It seemed quite nice and we had a good time. I couldn’t believe it. I asked the cop if I could have 10 minutes with him alone and surely he said “NO”.

What were the odds of them walking into the shop that our club president owns and trying to sell this stuff. The sad thing is that none of them were over 21.

I want to thank everyone who gave me advise and offered help. I really appreciate it. If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know.

My son walked up to me this morning and aske me if we got the kits back that George signed for us. I looked at him and said “You Bet” That was worth it all to me.

Thank You

Michael

Excellent.

Now fry 'em.

I mean, prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.

Glad to hear the good news! Not everything always works out so well as we all know. As one of my customers is fond of saying, if they were smart they wouldn’t be criminals.

“They had to be the dumbest people alive.”

If they were smart, they wouldn’t have done it in the first place!

I am so glad you got your stuff back. Awesome.
Peter

Been following the other thread with some interest. Boy, I just love a happy ending! Well, happy for you, anyway. Probably not so happy for the perps.

Cartwheels for happiness.

Knew people are stupid, but cannot possibly be THAT stupid. Guess Im wrong. hehe.

YEEE HAAWW!

Ditto on the Frying them.

Let’s get the cholrine gas ready!

What a sweet ending! Especially loved the part about the LHS Owner being President of the Club. I applaud his presence of mind to handle this new development when it happened. AWESOME. AND… the recovery of the specially signed kits for the Son.

Glad to hear they were caught. I hope they get prosecuted for the maximum penalty, although I doubt they will be off the streets long if they are still underage.

People give criminals way too much credit. Must be those Ocean Eleven type films. Most criminals are dumb and good riddance. I wonder who put them up to the idea in the first place.

Frank

Glad everything turned out well.

This is one of those “For Great Justice!” moments

Fantastic News

That is great news! I hope that the thieves are prosecuted and sentenced to the full extent of the law.

As a newbie who doesn’t have a lot of $$$ tied up in the hobby yet, your experience and the responses from others to your original thread are very educational. My only hope is that I never have to go through anything like you’ve been through. I’ve had my home broken into in the past and the material loss is nothing compared to a total feeling of violation. I hope that the perpetrators will be given plenty of time to mull over their stupidity while cooling their heels behind bars. They are really getting off to a bad start on their adult lives. I’d be curious to know if the police found any more stolen merchandise in their home. I think your evaluation of their mental capacity is pretty much right on the money. As a wise now retired police officer and good friend once told me:

I’m glad your story has a relatively happy ending. The response from others on this board and your LHS owner’s actions demonstrated some real class and willingness to become involved and do the right thing.

Thanks for sharing.

That is awesome!! Really happy you got all your stuff back!!

Jim

Well, I am glad it worked out the way it did. Just think, a trio of real-life Brainiacs in action.

Keep us posted with the 3 Musketeers day in court. [:O] [B)] [xx(]

Jim

Very happy for you!

Good news: The MRR comunity is very tight and most of us look out for each other, as demonstrated by your Club Prez and here on the forum.

Bad news: Showing your layout to young potential modelers(which this hobby needs) resulted in this happening.

Rich

Glad you got your stuff back.

Fantastic news!!

Some lessons for us all here I think.

Keep a detailed inventory, use the alarm, sort things out with the insurance co before the bad news!

Also I think there are lessons to be learned from your approach. Getting the word out in the community both on-line locally was the key. Good for you, your efforts to recover your possessions worked.

I am curious about if the 3 had a clue to the value of what was stolen? When they visited you before did they show any real interest in the kits?

I’m so glad to hear that things turned out the way they did.

As for the three that broke into your house and stole your things. They’d better be glad they live in the United States because in some countries, their hands would be chopped off!.., which in my book would be a fitting punishment for anyone that breaks into my house and steals from me.

Glad they were caught, but please don’t let this discourage you from introducing young people to the hobbie, not all kids are crooks.Set that alarm from now on!
