Burlington 2328 GP7 Railsounds Problem

Here I go again. Asking for help from the experts. I am new to model railroading and have really appreciated all the info that you all have on this great hobby. I have a Burlington 2328 GP7 that the railsounds started to be intermitent and now have quit totally. Have I fryed the board? Any remedies that anyone knows about? Thanks and someday maybe I can contribute.

Hello:

I’ve had this happen to me, and would eliminate these potential confounders before blaming the circuitry:

1). Check to be certain that the wire plugs in the RS board have not come loose

2). Clean the track (and wheels/pick-ups) as you claimed intermitent sounding before complete loss… RS can be very tempermental with a poor power connection. Hot link wires from a transformer (hopefully not using a postwar type on modern equipment) to the locomotives pick-ups and test RS that way. I would do this first before sending the unit in for work.

If all else fails, I believe a replacement board can be purchased from Digital Dynamics of CT (authorized resaler of RailSounds). He may ask you to send him the old one, but again be certain that is the problem…

Good luck,

Thanks, Statistician for the info. I am running with a new Powerhouse and tinplate track. Will start with the track cleaning and go from there.
