Burlington Northern Adventures

Just picked this book up from Barnes and Noble, its by Bill Brotherton and you have to love the title" Burlington Norhtern Adventures, railroading in the days of the caboose" There are spots here where you will laugh so hard youll be crying.

I had seen Mr Brothertons stories in Trains, and must say even though I am only halfway through the book,it is a great read and I suggest it for any fan of “old school” railroading.

Very, very good book. I bought it about three yrs ago. One of the best rr books I’ve read. I’m glad he took the time to jot notes and recount his past times while a rr worker and to preserve a era of the industry which is long gone. I keep a journal of my work and have begun to write short mini sories of some of my own times. For now this is just a private project but I hope to in about 15 yrs or so to have the chance to do a project like Mr. Brotherton did.

Looks like a winner! I miss those days. Thanks for the tip. I found this web page with links to the major places where it can be purchased online (It’s only $19.95 new.) They also include a small excerpt to whet the appetite:
