I was at my LHS, Maine Trains in Chelmsford, MA, yesterday. The distributer for a clothing and accessories line was there. I’d never really noticed it before, but Maine Trains stocks and sells quite a bit of Boston & Maine hats, sweatshirts and jackets. It sounded like the shop was one of this guy’s best customers.
I have a NS hat and jacket I bought from the NS on line store…I saved 22% over hobby shop and train show prices…I have a C&O hat,a PRR hat, a N&W hat,a Chessie hat and a Conrail hat. These I paid $6.50 at various train shows.
Sorry no “engineer” hats…[:-^]
I have an engineer hat.[:D] Also a PRR t-shirt.
Enjoy

My LHS has a rack of railroad-oriented T-shirts but I have never bought any. I did buy an engineer’s hat there, because they sell the sized ones (as opposed to the one-size-fits-all adjustable plastic strap kind) and I wanted it for my Railroad Museum docent outfit. I also have a conductor’s cap I got for the same reason. Of course, out here in California most of the T-shirts at the LHS are SP, WP and the occasional UP shirt.
I don’t think mine has anything other than engineers caps, but they DO have some beautiful chrome Lionel bar stools I’d love to have.
Hi Mr. B. I bought one of the B&M Minuteman Service shirts from Gerry’s a few months ago. I love it!!!
It’d be awesome if he stocked more (so long as nothing else gets the boot). Those shirts must’ve been getting good sales if a distributor was in there.
Personally I would like to see more Railroad shirts, hats etc sold at hobby shops AND train shows. I bought a very nice CP Rail shirt at George’s Trains in Toronto last year and would really like to buy a few more.
I’ve got a Santa Fe engineers cap and a Western Pacific coffee mug that I bought at different hobby shops, but that’s about it…

i never noticed real clothing at hobby shop just some hats and sovanier items.
Most of the T-shirts I wear I got from my LHS. As it happened I went into the store when they were putting all the clothing into the clearance rack because it didn’t sell. No way I am paying $15 for a T-shirt regardless of what is says on it. But in the clearance rack they were $2 each. So I bought them all, whether I cared about the Railroad printed on them or not.
