Buyer Beware

BUY NOTHING from the Ebay seller with the user ID of FORGIONNE. (Guisseppi Forgionne) I bought a Williams brass Hudson advertised as “small piston rod need reattachment, mising a small jewell from one of the marker lights, loose tender wheels.” It arrived as COMPLETE JUNK, a basket case, held together only by gravity. All the wheels, except the drivers, were in a bag, leading and trailing truck frames broken, brass tender severely dented in two places, smoke boxes bent and most of the piping un-soldered and hanging. The pieces were bubble wrapped. The box was undamaged. It was SENT this way. There was NO USPS DAMAGE. His policy is NO REFUNDS and apparently, NO DISCUSSION. Since he will not accept Paypal, a buyer has no recourse. BUY NOTHING FROM THIS PERSON. If you’re willing to risk getting junk, make me an offer on the Hudson!

Dude, that alone right there tells you it was junk. All these people thinkin’ their getting a deal.

Yea, I don’t mind that kind of add for a 60 or 70 year old engine, but for a new (10year old) one I’d say no way or you should expect to pay pennies on the dollar. Sorry for your misfortune.

Might be a good kit bashing engine now!

Once you have paid for an item, you have completed your end of the contract and you deserve a positive feedback. You will notice this seller put a negative feedback on your ID after you put one on his. That’s why they hold off. I saw somebody put a neutral feedback on a seller of CW80s and she imediately put a negative on his in return.

If you are a buyer, never give a feedback (positive or negative) to anyone that has not already given one to you.

You have no defense against people like this on the ebay site, all you can do is try to let everyone know. Negatives don’t seem to hurt the large sellers, but they hurt individuals with a small number of feedbacks.

My 2 cents.

Corrected based on futher information.

Even without using paypal you still have recourse through eBay. File a grievence.

I’ve had more than one williams fall apart in the box, but the parts never managed to get themselves into a plastic bag[:-^]

And they are changing the rules so sellers cannot leave a buyer anything but positive feedback. And I’ll admit, I don’t really like that but its part of the game. They seem to be taking away more of an honest sellers ability to combat an unscupulous buyer. And to be fair, there are some of both out there.

I don’t know both sides of this story but I do know I have bought from him 3 or 4 times and everytime I got something from him I got just as described . With over 7000 feedback your going to run into someone that has a beef and to me if you come running here to cry about a deal that isn’t what you thought you were getting I’m sorry your a first time poster as of this and morethan likely if I didn’t state this it probally would of been close to your last other than a couple of times to respond to a few here about your deal that wasn’t as grand as you thought or to keep the post at the top by making another comment so it would bounce to the top again. Other than that you need to learn a few things and it does hurt when you feel you were cheated I’m not saying you weren’t as it is a small poossibility you might have. I just looked at your feedback and out of the 19 you have left for others 15 are negative that tells me you have a real problem there guy.

I can’t believe that many people have done wrong. I think you try to scam sellers.

rt…I think your right.

Dude, you got like 6 negative feedback in like 6 months. I think you might be a little over agressive here?

Funny, it seems that you also have a problem with the seller mwinternetauctionsonmain.

I can tell you that I have bought from them several times, opting to both have them ship my items and to pick them up in person. They’re good, honest folks and quite nice. I can’t imagine anyone having a problem with them.

I will also say that I’ve bought 2 MPC era engines from Guisseppi Forgionne and they were both better than described and he was also excellent with various communications thoughout the process.

A “seller” with 99.1% positive (7111 trades) vs. a “buyer” with a 96.8% positive (144 trades)…Very interesting!

Ahh, That supports my comment that there are bad apples on both sides, seems like a buyer this time, which is why I do not like the impending change to not allowing the seller to leave a neg feedback anymore.

I’m the person 3rdrailer is complaining about, and I thought you might want to hear my side of the story. NOTHING that 3rdrailer has said is accurate. Here’s a link to the item in question, so that you can judge for yourself:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180203938734

That’s the engine that was sent to 3rdrailer, and it was EXACTLY as described and pictured on ebay. Also, you might want to check out 3rdrailer’s ebay feedback and then compare it to mine.

I have dealt with Mr. Forgionne and M&W in Cynthiana, and both sellers are outstanding. M&W always has great items at great prices and great customer service. Mr. Forgionne always keep me informed on the status of the transaction.

However, I feel that the feedbback system is slanted towards crooked individuals. I bought a 395 from another seller that was described as mint, but it was actually far from mint. I left a neutral, and the seller left me a negative, as well as nasty emails in return. Because of that, my 100% rating was ruined. So, now I don’t leave feedback if I feel I was cheated.

When I saw that 3rd railer had this as his first post it tells me somethings up. Im glad to see others have picked up on this as well. I have no problem with the seller coming on here to defend himself.

I think the buyer came on here to trash the seller because he didnt understand exactly what he was getting and didnt look into it enough. Im guessing he tried to get some kind of deal out of the seller, but that wasn’t happening. HE KNEW EBAY WOULDN’T HELP HIM…THATS WHY HES COMPLAINING HERE AND NOT WHERE HE SHOULD BE.

I RULE IN FAVOR OF THE DEFENDANT.

This is why I stay away from ebay. I had no problems with sellers (never sold anything myself) but Ive heard too many stories about these type of problems. I would tell my account name but Ill surely be given negative feedback.

In a virtual business that depends on attracting buyers not able to see the product in person…In this case, what the buyer claimed doesn’t match what I saw and read on the actual ebay posting. I expected to see a couple of plastic bags of parts. Chalk this one up for the seller, though his picture of the item needed some help.

What I can’t understand is why so many ebay train sellers post pictures that are nearly useless. Many other train sellers do go to great lengths with excellent shots of both the good and the bad to give the buyer an accurate visual of the written description. I look at so much stuff and can only conclude “Yup, it’s black and shaped like a steam loco.” Even zoom doesn’t help when the lighting sucks and the pic is out of focus.

If you’re going to be a serious ebay train seller, and both positive feedback and customer satisfaction is crucial to your success (minimize misunderstandings), I’d suggest a little Marketing 101 and Digital Photography for Dummies.

I’ve done both my share of buying, and selling on ebay, I have 100% feedback, and knock on wood have never had a bad transaction either as a seller or buyer. When I sell items, mostly guitars I ALWAYS take MANY good and CLEAR pics of the item, at all the angles I can think-up. I also look good and hard at a bidders feedback, and the sellers feedback. But I have noticed that many train sellers don’t post clear pics when they sell them on ebay, but to be fair, many do. The best advice I can give a potential buyer is to always do your homework, cross referance the buy it now price with other reputable dealers on the net, and your LHS, sometimes you will be very suprised to find the same item for a better price at those places.Even with items up for bid, many times you can find a better price elswhere, ebay in my opinon is’nt what it used to be, it seems now that more people just want to be the high bidder, but don’t intend on buying the item, it’s becomming a “sport” with them just to win the auction. Notice how many sellers are relisting items because of no paying bidders!! It’s becomming almost epidemic!!

same here. I buy from them often, never a problem.

I’d like to play poker with some of them. Their bidding strategy or lack thereof is beyond comprehension.
