C&NW Atlantic wanted

Where is a good place to seek a C&NW Atlantic type loco? I seem to recall a brass one some years ago but I forgot who made it. I had a Penn Line one about 30 years ago but it wasn’t suitable for the C&NW.

Probably the best place to look is Ebay.

They have a brass auction section if you are looking for the brass model.

I did a google search but only turned up museum and prints.

PFM made one for years. You can quite often find one on EBay. There was also a cast metal one imported by Aristocraft (iIRC)… There’s one of the latter on EBay just listed.

There was also another brass importer that brought in a C&NW 4-4-2, but I can’t remember which one.

Close enough?

I don’t konw how close it is, but Mantua did a C&NW version of their Atlantic in the 90’s, in their “Mantua Classics” line. Those have can motors and can be made to run well.

I used one as a starting point for a kit bash for my Atlantic Central, and I have seen a few of them on Ebay.

No idea about brass but a Mantua C&NW road #1015 sold for $119.95, October 31st this year. Do a ebay search for this loco, Look in Completed listings to see if something like is what you might want. Another might show up.

Kitbash Depot has a MDC Harriman style with cast boiler Atlantic with Vanderbilt tender. Probably not what you would want.

Nixon Enterprises handles brass and has an online shop.

Caboose Hobbies handles brass.

Hi!

Gotta go down a rabbit trail here…

I spent a lot of hours trackside at the C&NW northwest “racetrack” during the '50s, and saw a whole lot of these up close and personal pulling/pushing commuter trains. Actually, quite often I was way too close - and probably scared a lot of engine men. Its a little late, but I do apologize for that.

These locos were not the prettiest or strongest, but they sure did the job!

Good luck with your quest!

Just thought of another brass seller.

The Caboose in Wolcott, CT. They have an on line site with a search page of their stock. I was down there some years ago. Nice place.
