C&NW brass steamers

I woud like to buy myself a Christmas present. A C&NW brass loco. I tried Caboose hobbys. Where else can I look?

I buy from E-bay. Sometimes there are great deals that can be had if you are patient. A great example is the Overland B6sb for $99. It is factory painted and has a large can motor.

If you don’t want E-bay then try Howies. http://howiesbrasstrains.com/ BC enterprise. http://www.bcenterpriseinc.com/index.html And Greenway. https://www.greenwayproducts.com/

There are others such as Uncle Daves. http://www.uncledavesbrass.com/ and BLCO. http://www.brasslocomotive.com/

Bruce

what are you looking for?

Richard

He said that he was looking for a C&NW brass loco.

Pete gave him a good list that included ten In Stock C&NW brass locos of various types.

Can’t do much better than that.

Rich

I think Bruce is having issues with the new format of this forum. He started a new thread earlier to reply to another thread. I too have found that this new fourm is unstable and sometimes freezes my computer when openning. Sometimes I get the reply buttons and sometimes not. Each time I exit I clear my cache and cookies and log back in is a crap shoot. I do have to say that this change is not one for the better. I certainly hope they saved a bunch of money with this change to offset the added aggravation of us members. Or it could be a way to phase out the forum all together.

Pete

Thanks folks. I should have stated up front that I was looking for a short wheelbase model such as a Pacific or Prairie. I found one but it was a Yellow jacket Pacific as used on the Minneapolis 400 and not what I could use. Lots of 4-8-4s but I have enough 8 coupled locos.

Bruce.

I have a Pacific (brass) of the PRR K5s that has the weelbase of most of my 8 coupled locos. Most pacifics were huge high stepping passenger pullers. The weelbase is determined by driver diameter. I know little of the C&NW steamers to advise you on a model to get. Perhaps a 6 coupled switcher or a small drivered 8 coupled freight hauler? I am just saying that you should not discount an 8 drivered loco with small drivers as too big.

Pete

Hi Bruce: You say you have “lots” of C&NW 4-8-4’s? I’d really like to get my hands on an “H” class Northern, preferably the early version with the banjo frame around the firebox. What price is right where you are. Back here in the East they’re prohibitively expensive.

JimValle,

You can try and ask Uncle Dave if he has a good price:

Edit: I see Pete posted him already.

Another source to check on from time to time is BPL Brass, in Mequon WI. They advertise regularly in MR. I purchased some Overland CNW red cabooses from them years ago so I guess I qualify as a “satisfied customer” although if memory serves I went to their offices to pick up my packages so I cannot testify how they do on shipping.

I checked and right now they only have that streamlined 4-6-2 as well, but because they take consignments you never know what you might see there. They also have a want list feature that I myself have never used so I do not know exactly how it works or what it does.

I suppose somewhere on their list is a USRA 0-6-0 which the North Western did have although some railroad specific redetailing might be needed and I know how eager guys are to take a hot soldering iron to a new brass locomotive!

Bruce,

Brasstrains.com has an E2 Pacific for sale right now and it isn’t very expensive compared to most brass.
